Leadership

Earlier this year, at the General Assembly of the members of ASPEC in Portugal, Klaus Swinke chose not to be available for re-election as President of ASPEC for another term. Klaus served as President since 2008 and did a great work in casting a new vision and mission for ASPEC in Portugal, regionalizing the ministry more and simplifying the statutes and working relationships. We thank Klaus for his excellent Leadership of ASPEC in the past and for preparing the ministry for the future. We especially want to thank Klaus for the good relationships between ASPEC and the Europartners office under his leadership, especially in the preparation of the Europartners conference in Porto last February.

The new President elected is Maria José Pereira Coias (pictured above with her husband) whom we know well at Europartners. Maria José attended several of our conferences and has a good understanding and heart for the marketplace ministry. A new management committee was elected which includes Manuela Quintaneiro whom we also know at Europartners. We pray that the new ASPEC Leadership team will be represented at our February retreat in Jerusalem!

Please join us in prayer for Maria José and the new ASPEC Leadership in Portugal!

Below is an excerpt from the ASPEC announcement:

In order to ensure continuity, most members have served in the past (new are Joao Beirao and Manuela Quintaneiro). The vision for the ASPECleadership is to focus even more on evangelism and discipleship. Some financial challenges also need to be addressed. At the General Assembly the decision was taken to establish a separate association for the Crown ministry which will be chaired by Klaus Swinke, former President of ASPEC. TheASPEC leadership is motivated to continue to reach out for Christ into the marketplace in Portugal, a nation currently greatly suffering from difficult financial and economic conditions.
—Maria José Pereira Coias
